I’m Amreen, an independent filmmaker and writer from Toronto. Here’s how to pronounce my name if you want to make sure it sounds right in your head.

I love all things film - social realism, cancon, scandinavian cinema, and contemporary feel goods are favourites but you can hit me up to discuss further or find me on Letterboxd!

I’ve been making some variation of art for as long as I can remember, attending film festivals and art galleries as often as I can. The goal is to be fortunate enough to continue to be featured at some!

Three years out of school and into the industry, I’m so grateful to have gotten such amazing opportunities and I’m always on the lookout for the next riveting project. I’m open to anything, whether it’s a coffee meeting, a brainstorm session, or a project you’ve already got started!

Lately I’ve found myself most often set dressing commercials, DPing indie shorts, and editing both!

And I know what they say about jack of all trades but my love for what I do sprang from conceptualizing and creating my own DIY shorts, how could I focus in on just one. I want to continue to push the boundaries and exist multi-departmentally. As I continue my journey, I’m looking to work in G&E to improve my knowledge on lighting in order to become a better DP for my future teams!
