Chimera (2019)

As Emma tries to prepare for exams on a gloomy fall day, she can’t help but follow the hypnotic sound of a piano, beckoning her from afar.

For this short exercise, we were met by the restrictions of shooting within two hours on campus, with limited casting options. Emily and I wanted to use this opportunity to play with a genre we hadn't done before, horror/suspense, which is best achieved with a budget. We didn't have one. Loosely inspired by films like Black Swan and The Double, this is what we came up with.

Shot on the Sony FS5

My Role: Director, Co-Writer, 1st AC, Editor (cut, colour, audio post)

Colour

I had a lot of fun playing with colour on Da Vinci. Here’s a raw vs graded comparison.

Behind the Scenes at HdM

This project was created on my exchange in Stuttgart, Germany at Hochschule der Medien amidst the Moving Images program. Here I got to collaborate with some amazing people from around the world, from Boston to Denmark to the UK. Here are some photos from our sets this semester.
